Code Foils Kanga Pump Foil: First Look from Ireland

Posted by Paddy on

No wind, flat water, and this rare hot Irish weather — normally that's a day off. The Code Foils Kanga just turned it into a session. The Kanga is Code's biggest release of the year and a whole new category for the range: a dedicated pump foil, and honestly the easiest way into pump foiling we've seen. It's in the shop now — and as Ireland's only Code Foils dealer, we've got the full size range.

What the Kanga is for

Pump foiling, dock starting, flat-water SUP paddle-ups and ultra-light wind winging — all the stuff you can do on a roasting, windless Irish day like the ones we're having right now. It's deliberately slow and forgiving: the wing gives you time to calibrate what you're doing, and if you botch a pump or lose your balance, you can recover instead of sinking. One honest note, as ever: it's beginner-friendly for most disciplines, but it's not a surf foiling wing.

How far can you actually go on one? Watch this

This is the video that sold us on what "endurance pump foil" actually means — a 2.5-hour, 35km pump foil session around a Swiss lake on the big Kanga. No wind, no waves, no motor. Just pumping. Wow is the only word for it:

(Can't see it? Watch on YouTube.)

Which size Kanga?

  • 1870 (1870 cm², A/R 9.1) — the most beginner-friendly: maximum stability, low-speed lift and forgiveness for first dock starts, paddle-up progression and ultra-light wind winging. Most people start here.
  • 1600 (1600 cm², A/R 10.6) — the balance of efficiency and forgiveness for progressing dock starters extending ride times.
  • 1390 (1390 cm², A/R 12.1) — the fastest and most efficient of the core range, for riders with technique chasing glide and distance.
  • 2220 (2220 cm², A/R 13.0) — the specialist: a long-distance endurance wing for maximum efficiency and personal-best runs. The 35km lads' territory.

Each one comes as front wing, cover and bolt pack, from €1,219 — see the Kanga range here. It bolts straight into the Code modular system, so if you're already on Code masts and fuselages, you're one wing away from pump sessions.
