Looking for Appletree Surfboards in Ireland? You've found the official dealer. We stock, ride and demo Appletree's handmade carbon boards here in Barna, Galway — and they've quietly become the answer to almost every directional-board question in the shop, whether that's wing foiling, downwinding, Foil Drive or strapless kitesurfing on Atlantic waves.
Who are Appletree?
Appletree are a Dutch builder founded by brothers Wieger and Jorrit Buurma, who started shaping in a shed on the family's apple farm and grew into one of the most respected board factories in the sport. Every board is vacuum-infused with closed-cell waterproof foam — the construction that made their reputation, because it simply doesn't die the way ordinary production boards do. Ding it, and it doesn't drink water. On a coast as rocky and shore-breaky as ours, that matters more than any spec sheet.
The boards, by discipline
Wing foiling: the Midlength V2 is the board we now put under nearly every winger — 37 to 77 litres, brilliant for parawing too, and our full thoughts are in the Midlength V2 vs AppleSlice V4 comparison.
Downwind: the Skipper Downwind V2 (7ft to 8ft, 94–118 litres) is the dedicated downwind and light-wind machine — glide for days.
Foil Drive: the Zapple was designed with the Foil Drive team for a seamless motor fit, and the carbon Zapple S is the high-performance prone version. More in our Foil Drive in Ireland guide.
Prone foiling: the AppleSlice V4 remains the scalpel — our full AppleSlice V4 review covers it.
Kitesurfing directionals: from the Applino V2 and Malus Domestica to the Klokhouse Noseless — wave boards built for exactly the conditions we get from autumn to spring. The White Line models are their best-selling shapes at a sharper price (from €1,275), and full customs start from €1,299 if you want your own spec and artwork.
Why we back them as our directional board going forward
We stock plenty of good brands, so this is saying something: Appletree is what we reach for ourselves. The construction survives Irish rocks and Irish shorebreak, the range covers every foil and wave discipline from one factory, and the resale value holds because the boards last. Whether you're buying your first wing board or your fifth wave board, it's the safest money in the shop.
