Kitesurfing gift vouchers Ireland: lessons or gear, the present that actually gets used

Posted by Paddy on

Buying for someone who won't stop talking about kitesurfing? A kitesurfing gift voucher is the one present that never ends up in a drawer — and we do two kinds here at Paddy in the Elements in Galway: vouchers for lessons, and gift cards for gear. Both bought online in two minutes, both usable on the west coast's best water.

Option one: a lesson gift voucher

The lesson gift voucher runs from €50 to €800 and can be put towards any private 1:1 lesson we teach — kitesurfing, wing foiling or parawinging — at Silverstrand, ten minutes from Salthill. Lessons are BKSA-certified, radio-coached and genuinely one-to-one: no standing in a group of six waiting for a turn. If you're not sure how much to give, €150 covers a proper introductory session and our guide to how many lessons it takes to learn kitesurfing will help you pitch it right. Giving the full journey? Lesson package students currently get €400 of safety gear free when they move on to their first kite package.

Option two: a gear gift card

For someone already riding, the gear gift card is the safest gift in watersports — it works on everything in the shop: kites, boards, foils, wings, wetsuits, harnesses, the lot. They pick exactly what they want, you take zero sizing risk. If they've been eyeing up something specific — a Mystic wetsuit, a new kite from the kite range, or one of the package deals — the card gets them most of the way there and lets them choose the size themselves.

Which one should you buy?

They've never kited before: lesson voucher, no contest. Kitesurfing is not a self-taught sport on Irish water. They're learning already: lesson voucher, or a gear card towards their first wetsuit and harness. They're experienced: gear card — they know what they want better than either of us. Genuinely stuck? WhatsApp us on 087 144 8888, tell us who it's for and what they ride, and we'll tell you straight which to get — we do this every Christmas, birthday and Father's Day.

The practical bits

Vouchers are delivered digitally, so they work for last-minute presents — bought on Christmas Eve, in their inbox before the dinner. Lessons are booked around wind and tides, so the recipient picks dates that suit them once they're ready. And if they fall in love with the sport (they will), everything else they need is in the trailer at Silverstrand / Barna or in our complete gear guide.
