Kitesurfing Lessons in Ireland — Taught Properly, One-to-One

If you're going to learn to kitesurf in Ireland, learn where the wind and water are best: the west coast. We're Paddy in the Elements — an Irish-owned, independent kitesurf school and shop on Galway Bay, teaching private 1:1 BKSA-certified lessons on the safe, sandy, shallow lagoon at Silverstrand. No group lessons, no queues, no waiting for your turn on the kite — every minute of every lesson is yours.

Why Riders Travel to Us From All Over Ireland

  • 1:1 only. Group lessons are cheaper per hour and slower per euro — you share the kite, you share the instructor, you progress at the pace of the slowest learner. One-to-one, most students are riding in half the sessions.
  • BKSA-certified instruction, 7+ years on the Wild Atlantic Way, RNLI and emergency-care background. 55+ five-star Google reviews.
  • A real learning spot. Silverstrand's lagoon is shallow, sandy and sheltered — you stand up, reset, and go again, instead of getting washed down a beach.
  • School + shop together. When you're ready for gear, you demo before you buy, and your first setup is sized to you by the instructor who taught you — not picked off a shelf.

🎁 The Best Way to Start: Lessons + Gear in One

Complete our 3-lesson package and buy any full-price new kite package and we'll add €400 of free gear — impact vest, helmet, kite leash and booties. That's your lessons, a complete new setup sized to you, and your safety kit sorted in one decision. Offer ends 31 October 2026. See beginner packages.

Coming From Dublin or the East Coast?

Galway is about 2 hours from Dublin — and the difference is worth the drive: Atlantic wind reliability, an uncrowded sandy lagoon, and private tuition instead of a group rota. Plenty of our students make it a west-coast weekend: lesson in the morning, Galway city in the evening. We also deliver gear nationwide — Dublin in 1–2 working days.

Where We Teach

Home base is Silverstrand, Galway Bay, with lessons and coaching for riders across the west — Mayo, Sligo, Donegal, Clare and Limerick. Wherever you're based in Ireland, message us and we'll point you at the right spot and the right plan.

FAQs

How long does it take to learn to kitesurf? With 1:1 lessons, most people are up and riding within 3–6 hours of tuition — our 3-lesson package is designed to get you independent.

How much do kitesurfing lessons cost in Ireland? It varies by format — 1:1 costs more per hour than group lessons but almost always less per skill learned. Message us for current package prices.

Do I need my own gear? No — everything is included: kite, board, wetsuit, harness, helmet and impact vest.

When is the best time of year? We teach spring to autumn, and autumn is Ireland's most reliable wind season — learning in late summer sets you up perfectly for it.
