Kitesurfing on the west coast — gear and lessons for Limerick riders

Kitesurfing from Limerick: your nearest shop and school

Posted by Paddy on

Limerick might not have surf on the doorstep, but let's be straight: you're better placed than most. The Clare coast is an hour west, Kerry's beaches are within reach for a weekend, and our shop and school in Barna, Galway is a straight run up the M18 — about an hour and a quarter door to door.

Learn in a weekend (or a few evenings)

Plenty of our students come up from Limerick, and the run is worth it: 1:1 lessons on Silverstrand's shallow, sandy bay with radio coaching — the safest, fastest way to learn on the west coast. Book a couple of sessions back-to-back and make a weekend of it; Galway's not the worst spot for an evening out after. Start with how lessons work.

Gear: try it on, or have it delivered

We're the only Approved CORE dealer in the Republic and the only Code Foils and LIEUWE dealer in Ireland — plus deep stock of Ozone, F-One, North, Mystic and Appletree. Free delivery over €200, usually with you in a day or two. Starting from scratch? Our packages bundle kite, bar and board matched and checked — and lesson students get a discount code off any package.

West coast perk

Limerick's one of our home counties, so code WESTCOAST10 gets you an extra 10% off orders over €500 from the Gear Up & Save range — wetsuits, boots, gloves, hoods, vests and helmets, all in stock.

WhatsApp us with any questions — sizes, spots, where to start. We answer ourselves.
