Starboard Above foil board and Viva wing 2027, Ireland

Starboard 2027 is here: foil boards, inflatables and the Source wing, with the Viva on pre-order

Posted by Paddy on

Starboard's 2027 foiling range is on the site today, and we are the only Starboard dealer in the Republic of Ireland. Nine composite foil boards, four inflatable foil boards, the Source wing with its boom included, and the new Viva on pre-order for December. Every price is set against Starboard's own European list and checked against the big German and Spanish Starboard shops, so buying at home costs about the same as anywhere in the EU, with free Irish delivery over €200 and the warranty handled here in Galway. Here is what landed and who each board is for.

Starboard foil boards: nine shapes, 11 to 155 litres

Starboard build their boards in Carbon D2 (the lightest full-carbon layup), Xtec Carbon and Xtec Carbon D2 (tougher expanding-epoxy sandwich at a lower price) and Carbon Reflex Sandwich for the race and freestyle boards. All of them take a standard foil box and most sizes carry a 2027 "S27D27" code, which means they are current season stock from Starboard's distributor, usually five to ten working days to Galway. A handful of sizes are build-to-order; we confirm those dates on WhatsApp straight after you order and refund in full if the date does not suit.

Above, €1,539 to €2,269

The mid-length that does everything. 34 to 155 litres, wing, parawing, SUP foil and prone, with the longer, narrower outline that builds speed and lifts early in light wind. The low deck puts your feet close to the foil, so it stays reactive once you are flying. For most riders on Galway Bay this is the board we would point you at first: an 85-kilo winger lands around the 6'7" 90L or 6'11" 100L.

Take Off, €1,639 to €2,209

Compact, narrower nose, built for wave and freestyle winging. 50 to 105 litres. The 50 and 60L are for advanced wave riding and rotations, 75 to 90L is the sweet spot for most, and the 95 and 105L double as freeride and SUP foil boards. Carbon D2 or Xtec Carbon D2.

Nomad, €1,539 to €1,579 and Phazer, €1,539 to €1,639

Two former AK shapes now under the Starboard tiki. The Nomad is the narrow light-wind crossover, 46 to 95L, with a sharp nose and tail that reduces touchdowns in turns; the big sizes are wing, parawing and SUP foil boards, the small ones prone and foil-assist. The Phazer is the surf-inspired prone and wing board, 30 to 140L, longer and wider than a freestyle shape for real drive through turns and the first board we would put a Foil Drive on.

iGnite, €1,579 to €2,479

Freestyle specialist built on the iGnite Air windsurf board that keeps winning, 44 to 90L. Compact geometry for fast rotations and a balanced volume for landings. Carbon Reflex Sandwich or Xtec Carbon.

Downwind: Fyre €2,419, Ace Foil €2,309, Ace Foil Lightning €2,309 to €2,379

The Fyre, designed with Shuri and Taku Araki, is the dedicated SUP downwind board: 7'8" at 90 or 105L, bulbous nose, teardrop tail, ultra-thin standing area. The Ace Foil (100 to 140L) is the versatile pin-tail that also winges and SUP foils. The Ace Foil Lightning (83 to 140L) is the narrow, fast-accelerating one for experienced downwinders.

Racing and pumping: X-15 95L €2,519, X-15 Class 82L €1,469, Pump board €879

The X-15 is the wing-foil race board in Carbon Reflex Sandwich; the X-15 Class is the one-design 82L for World Sailing's X-15 class. The 3'1" 11-litre Pump board is for dock starts, tow and cable foiling, and we already compared it with the Core Drip here.

Inflatable foil boards, €1,109 to €1,609

Starboard's patented Top Plate puts your feet 1.5cm from the foil, which is why these feel nothing like the wobbly inflatables of a few years ago. The Take Off Air Foil (81, 116 and 136L) comes with an alloy plate at €1,109 or the carbon plate, two kilos lighter, at €1,519. The Above Air Foil (95 to 125L, €1,519) is the mid-length version, and the Ace Air Foil (100 to 135L, €1,609) is the inflatable downwinder that fits in a car boot. The Air Foil Learner (7'9", 195L, €1,409) is the board we teach on: foil, wing, windsurf and SUP on one hull. Every inflatable ships with leash, Tiki pump and wheelie bag.

Wings: Source now, Viva in December

The 2027 Source is the school and beginner wing, now 2.0 to 6.0m², and every size comes with the aluminium Tool-Free Anchor Boom in the box, €1,009 to €1,229. Ultra-low aspect ratio, tucked tips that stay out of the water, big windows and a bright red canopy so we can see you from the beach.

The new 2027 Viva is the one people have been asking about. Two constructions: Carbon Frame (dacron airframe with carbon load strips, red or blue) and H2 Reflex (the ultra-light woven Ultra-PE airframe). 2.5 to 7.0m², each supplied with the Anchor Boom in aluminium or prepreg carbon, from €1,239 for a 2.5 Carbon Frame with alu boom to €2,209 for a 7.0 H2 Reflex with carbon boom. First delivery from Starboard is December 2026, so it is on pre-order: pick your size, we confirm the date on WhatsApp, full refund if it does not suit. The Tool-Free Anchor Boom is listed on its own too, €119 to €209, for anyone adding a second boom.

On the prices

Starboard does not sell direct in Ireland; its site points you to a dealer. So we took Starboard's own European list prices and checked them against you-love-it.eu in Germany, which sells the 2027 Take Off and Phazer at exactly Starboard's list, and hoenalu.com in Spain, which lists the Viva above Starboard's list. Our prices sit within five percent of Starboard's list across the whole range. Add free Irish delivery over €200, collection in Galway, the demo-day fee off your purchase, and a warranty you can deal with in person.

The new Starboard Ireland page is laid out the way the Code page is: Foil boards, Inflatable foil boards and Wings, with a short guide to which board suits which rider. Not sure which litres? WhatsApp Paddy with your weight, what you ride and your home spot and we will tell you straight.
