New gear alert: the Ozone Liteforce V2 has landed, and it's the wing we've been waiting for to turn flat, light-wind days into actual sessions. If you're a heavier rider who's sick of standing on the beach willing the wind to fill in, this is the one.
Paddy's a big-dawg wingfoiler — over 100kg — so light wind is the eternal struggle, and honestly there's no better real-world test of a light-wind wing than getting a 100kg+ rider up and foiling. The Liteforce V2 does exactly that: massive low-end power and loads of energy to pop you up onto the foil in the lightest breeze, then a clean, direct feel once you're going.
Why it works in next to no wind
Two things make the Liteforce V2 special: power and weight. It's got huge low-end grunt for its size, so it generates drive when there's barely anything in the air. And it's astonishingly light — the kind of light that means the wing isn't fighting you when the breeze drops. A lighter wing flutters less, stays where you put it, and keeps pulling instead of dying in the lulls.
New for the V2
Ozone have sharpened up an already-brilliant wing for the second version:
- New Ozone carbon boom system — stiffer, lighter and a lovely direct connection to the wing
- New stiffer surf handle for better drift handling when you let go in the waves
- An extra anti-flap batten on the trailing edge, which helps control sail tension at the top of the wind range for a smoother, more comfortable ride when it picks up
- Reduced sail cuts with more optimised shaping, so it holds its top performance for longer
The numbers
- Sizes: 6.6m and 7.7m — both built purely for light wind
- Weight: the 6.6m is just 2.97kg with the boom; the 7.7m only 3.23kg with the boom
- Materials: lightweight cloth, made in the Ozone factory
- Connection: a zero-movement connection between rider and wing, for a direct feeling to the wind
That boom-included weight is the headline. At under 3kg, the 6.6m is barely there in your hands — exactly what you want when you're pumping onto the foil and holding it through the lulls.
Which size for you?
Rough rule: the 7.7m is the ultimate light-wind tool and the pick for heavier riders or the very lightest days; the 6.6m gives a touch more handling and covers a slightly wider range. If you're a big-dawg rider like Paddy, the 7.7m will get you out when nothing else will. Not sure? That's what we're here for — tell us your weight and your local spot and we'll sort you.
