Lieuwe Falcon carbon big air kiteboard — available from Paddy in the Elements, Ireland's only LIEUWE dealer

Gear review: the Lieuwe Falcon big air carbon kiteboard

Posted by Paddy on

Quick answer: if you're into big air — or you want to be — the Lieuwe Falcon is the most comfortable board we've found for it, and we're the only LIEUWE dealer in Ireland. It's in stock in Galway right now in a full run of sizes and colours, from €1,149.

What it is

The Falcon is LIEUWE's big air weapon: a full carbon twintip built to be ultra-light without beating you up. LIEUWE are the Dutch board builders with a cult following in the big air scene, and the Falcon is the board that shows why. The whole design brief boils down to one line they put on the board themselves: big airs were never this comfortable.

What we like

Three things stand out after riding it here on the west coast:

  • It grips when it's honking. The Falcon holds an edge beautifully when you're loading up for a big one in 30 knots of Atlantic wind — exactly when cheaper boards start to chatter and skip out.
  • Landings don't hurt. Carbon boards can be brutally stiff. The Falcon is light and fast but has enough controlled flex that stomped landings feel damp and predictable rather than like hitting concrete.
  • It's genuinely light. Less swing weight means late takeoffs, easier board-offs and less fatigue over a long session.

Sizes, fins and looks

We stock the Falcon from 130×39 up through 133, 135, 137 and 139 — so everyone from lighter riders to tall lads with big feet is covered. Each board comes with your choice of 45mm fins for maximum grip or 30mm if you like to break the tail loose, and there's a range of colourways to pick from. LIEUWE built their name on boards that look as good as they ride, and the Falcon is no exception.

Who it's for

Big air and performance freeride riders, honestly. If you're a heavier or taller rider chasing height, the larger sizes are superb. If you're still working on your first jumps, it won't punish you — but if budget is tight, the Lieuwe Shotgun (€829) is the friendlier freeride sibling.

Price and where to get one

The Lieuwe Falcon is €1,149–€1,249 depending on spec, in stock in Galway — the only place in Ireland you'll find LIEUWE. It also features in our packages and deals paired with North and Core kites if you want the full setup sorted in one go. Free delivery over €200 anywhere in Ireland, and we're in Dublin most weeks if you're on the east coast.
