Straight answer: if you want the highest performance in high wind — the biggest boosts, the fastest double loops, the top end that never runs out — buy the Vortex V2 Ultra-X. If you want one kite that does everything well, from your first loops to a wave day on a surfboard to a light-wind foil session, buy the Reflex. They share the same DNA, and that's exactly why the choice is easy: one is the sharpened version, the other is the forgiving version, and you already know which rider you are.
Same family, two jobs
Ozone don't hide it: the Reflex is "heavily based on the Vortex design". Same three-strut layout, same 16-point bridle, the same shape philosophy that made the Vortex the kite the big air pros reach for. What changes is the material and the intent. The Vortex V2 Ultra-X has a full Aluula airframe — stiff, light, expensive — and it's tuned for punch. The Reflex is built in Teijin Triple Ripstop Dacron, with a slightly lower aspect ratio and a tighter turning radius, and it's tuned for forgiveness.
Jesse Richman walked the two kites through at AWSI this month, and his one-line summary is the one we'd use: the Vortex is the "big-air double-looping powerhouse the top riders use", and the Reflex is the "affordable, do-it-all kite for twin tip, surfboard or foil". Vortex V2 Ultra-X: the high-wind performance kite
The Vortex exists to go up. Full Aluula means the frame barely flexes when it's overpowered, so the kite holds its shape at 30 knots and keeps delivering vertical lift instead of bending out of it. The 16-point bridle keeps it stable through the loop, the strong forward drive resists stalling, and the V2 added a stiffer, more direct feel plus better light-wind performance and a new 17m. Anti-flap battens look after the canopy through years of hard sessions. We tested it in Connemara and wrote it up here; the short version is that it's the fastest, highest kite we've flown, and it rewards a rider who's already comfortable sending and looping.
That's also its limit. A light, quick, stiff kite punishes late timing, gives you less warning before it stalls, and its wind range moves up rather than simply getting wider. It's the better 30-knot kite. It's not the better 12-knot one.

Reflex: the kite that does it all
The Reflex replaced the Enduro in Ozone's range, and it's a real step on from the Enduro because of where it came from. Vortex-inspired shape, so it jumps properly — easy height, addictive hangtime, and loops you can learn without fear because the tighter turning radius brings the kite round quickly. Dacron airframe, so it's tougher for Irish abuse and a good deal cheaper. Light-to-medium bar pressure, three struts, beautifully balanced at speed. Jesse's line on it in the surf — quick, snappy response — is the bit that makes it a genuine one-kite quiver rather than a twintip kite that tolerates a surfboard.

Pick by the rider, not the spec sheet
Buy the Reflex if you want one kite for twintip, surf and foil; if you're learning to loop; if you ride mostly in 15–25 knots; or if the €1,200-a-size gap would otherwise pay for a second size. Everything the Vortex does, the Reflex does at 80% — and 80% of a Vortex is still more kite than most riders will use.
Buy the Vortex if you're already sending and looping cleanly, you ride overpowered by choice, you chase the storm days, and you want the last 20%. You'll feel the stiffness and the speed on the first jump, and you'll use them.
