Parawinging is the most exciting thing to happen to foiling in years: a kite-like wing that packs down to the size of a lunchbox, stashes in your pocket mid-run, and turns any breeze into a downwinder. And here's the bit most people don't realise — if you already kitesurf, you're halfway there. Flying a parawing feels instantly familiar: same wind window, same sheet-and-steer instincts, same feel through your hands. Kiters pick this up fast.
Where to start: two wings we trust
F-One Quest — from €899. F-ONE's pocket wing is made for those days when you just want to head out, follow the bumps and wander. Accessible, stable and beautifully behaved — it flies itself while you concentrate on the foil. In stock in Galway across sizes.
Ozone Powerpack — from €889. Ozone's accessible, durable parawing built exactly for riders getting into parawinging and downwind foiling. Easy handling and forgiving power — classic Ozone build quality that shrugs off the learning phase.
Honest answer to "which one?": both are superb starters — it usually comes down to which brand ecosystem you're already in and what sizes suit your weight. WhatsApp us and we'll match you.
Learn it properly
We run dedicated parawing lessons on Galway Bay — the first school in the west doing them. A session or two saves weeks of trial and error, and lesson students get money off gear. Pair your wing with a board like the Appletree Midlength V2 (optimised for parawing) or the North Midi and you've a complete setup.
