Apelviken – kite surfboard for lightweight riders
The first ever kite surfboard designed from the ground up for women and lightweight riders. To provide ultimate control and performance.
Lightweight and petite riders
Feedback from our former team rider Catharina Edin and others riders showed how frustrating the search for a proper kite surfboard for lighter or petite riders could be. It sparked the idea to design a board specifically for lightweight riders from the ground up.
After testing plenty of prototypes, we have come up with the Apelviken model!
More forgiving rockerline
The rocker acceleration starts more towards the tail of the board. This makes the board more forgiving, loose and easy to turn. You don’t need to throw in a lot of body weight to turn the board as the board reacts very responsive.
The middle of the board is flatter to help pushing upwind. Combine this with the thinner rails and narrow tail and you have the recipe for a forgiving yet controllable board.
Smaller stance
Lighter riders tend to have a smaller stance. Another nice benefit of moving the rocker to the back, is that you can ride the board better in one position. You don’t need to move a lot from the back to the front to get the most out of the board.
Whether you are riding a wave or riding upwind, this board reacts equally fine if you ride it on the tail. As most smaller riders also have shorter legs and a narrower stance, this helps to keep control.
Snappy feel
The loose feeling of the board is balanced out with a narrow tail. This makes sure that you stay in control while enjoying this snappy feel. You can really push back on the board. This also makes the board better when the waves get bigger.
The Apelviken is not a small wave board, it’s a balanced allrounder that you can ride in most conditions. Equally fun on flat water as it is in bigger surf.
Finally the Apelviken features grab rails in the nose, to help holding on to the board especially with smaller hands.

Collect in Galway: anything marked in stock in Galway can be picked up the same day from the trailer at Silverstrand or in Barna. Message us first so we have it ready for you.
Delivery: free Irish delivery on orders over €200. Galway stock ships for next-day delivery. Core stock is usually with you in 2 to 3 working days, Ozone in 3 when their distributor has it, other brands 5 to 10. Appletree boards are built in their factory: about 2 weeks if in stock, 8 weeks built to order, 8 to 10 weeks for a custom. We confirm an honest date on WhatsApp before you order.
Returns: 30 days to request a return on unused gear in its original packaging. Full details in our returns policy.
Is this the right size for me? WhatsApp Paddy your weight, level and home spot and he will tell you straight. Replies usually within the hour, 8am to 9pm.
Can I try it first? Yes. Book a demo day at Silverstrand or Rusheen Bay; buy within 30 days and the demo fee comes off the price.
Can I trade in my old gear? Yes, we take part-exchange on most kites, wings, boards and foils. Send photos on WhatsApp for a price.
Do you teach on this gear? Lessons at Ireland’s only BKSA-recognised school run on the brands we sell, so you can learn on it before you buy it.

Everything we sell is gear we ride ourselves on Galway Bay. New gear is checked over before it leaves us. Ex-demo and ex-instructor gear is inspected, pumped up and photographed so you can see the actual item before you commit.
Galway stock can be collected the same day from the trailer at Silverstrand or in Barna. Everything else is delivered anywhere in Ireland, free over €200, and we'll give you an honest delivery date on WhatsApp before you order.
Book a demo day, ride the gear in real Irish conditions, and if you buy within 30 days the demo fee comes off the price. Lessons and demos are run by Ireland's only BKSA-recognised kite school.
