Straight answer first: if you're riding a Code setup hard — proper surf, fast downwinders, powered winging — the Black Series is the stiffest, most direct mast Code have ever built, and it's available in Ireland only through us. If you're not riding at that level yet, our honest advice is further down, and it'll save you money.
Where it sits in the range
Code's mast ladder now runs High Modulus → Ultra HM Plus → Black Series. We ride and sell the first two every week out of Galway, so we know exactly what each step up buys you: less deflection, tighter response, more confidence when you're pushing hard. The Black Series is the new top rung — aerospace-grade high modulus carbon, built for riders who want the most direct connection to the foil that Code can manufacture.
Three lengths, all fully compatible with the Code modular system — your existing fuselage, front wings and stabilisers bolt straight on:
- 75cm — €2,379. Shallow water, surf and downwind. The pick for most Irish wave riding, and for anyone foiling spots like Silverstrand where the extra clearance matters less than the response.
- 80cm — €2,439. The all-rounder. If you do a bit of everything, this is the length.
- 85cm — €2,489. Winging and tow foiling in bigger waves, where the extra length keeps the wings working through steep faces.
What the stiffness actually gets you
A mast is the part of the foil you feel most and think about least. Every bit of flex and twist between your feet and the front wing turns your input into mush — you carve, and the foil answers a beat later. Aerospace-grade high modulus carbon exists to close that gap. At speed, in turbulence, banked hard through a turn, the Black Series holds its line where softer masts start to wander. Riders coming off the standard HM mast will feel it immediately; even Ultra HM Plus riders will notice the difference the harder they push.
The honest bit: do you need it?
Not everyone does, and we'd rather tell you that before you spend €2,400. If you're progressing through your first seasons of winging or prone, the High Modulus mast is superb and the Ultra HM Plus is more mast than most of us can out-ride. The Black Series is for the riders who've found the edge of the UHM+ — chargers, downwind racers, anyone who knows exactly what "deflection at speed" feels like because it's the thing currently holding them back.
