Best Beginner Wing 2026: Ozone Flow vs F-One Strike V6

Posted by Paddy on

Choosing your first wing is the difference between a frustrating start and one that clicks. The good news: 2026’s wings are the easiest, most forgiving yet. We ride and teach on the west coast of Ireland every week, so here’s our honest take on the two best wings to learn on and grow into this year — the Ozone Flow V2 and the F-One Strike V6.

What makes a great beginner wing?

  • Stable and forgiving — sits quietly in the window so you can focus on the board.
  • Easy, controllable power — enough to get going without overpowering you.
  • A wide wind range — so one wing covers more days.
  • Built to last — it’ll take a few beach landings while you learn.
  • Room to grow — a wing you won’t outgrow in a month.

Ozone Flow V2

Ozone Flow V2 wing

The Flow V2 is Ozone’s ultimate all-round freeride wing — and a brilliant first wing. A new carbon boom gives a rigid, responsive feel, while a redesigned profile widens the wind range for earlier take-offs and smoother handling when it’s gusty. Its forgiving sail makes tacks and gybes far easier, so you progress faster, and Ozone’s hybrid Teijin canopy is famously durable. We’re the only Ozone dealer on the west coast of Ireland.

Best for: riders who want one easy, do-it-all wing that grows from first flights to powered carving.

F-One Strike V6

The Strike V6 builds on a benchmark wing with a more controlled profile and optimised tension — it feels stable when powered and efficient through gusts. The standout for learners is how easily it gets you onto the foil: strong forward drive and an efficient pump mean quick, low-effort take-offs. It stays versatile as you improve, across freeride, waves and freefly (there’s a stiffer QuadX version for performance riders).

Best for: riders who want efficient, stable power and an easy ride onto the foil, with room to progress.

Flow V2 or Strike V6 — which one?

Both are forgiving enough to learn on and capable enough to keep for years. Pick the Ozone Flow V2 for the most forgiving, do-it-all freeride feel. Pick the F-One Strike V6 for efficient drive and the easiest path onto the foil. Honestly? You can’t go wrong — so the smartest move is to try both before you buy.

The right size depends on your weight and your local wind, so don’t guess. Ride them at one of our demo days (your demo fee comes off the price if you buy), or message us and we’ll size you up. Browse Ozone wings and F-One, all in stock on the west coast of Ireland.
