This is the 9m from Paddy's personal quiver — not a school kite, never on a lesson. Three sessions on it, stored dry, and it looks and flies like it came out of the bag last week. We're the only approved Core dealer in the Republic, so it's been checked over by the people who sell them new.
The XR8 is Core's big-air freeride kite: an ultra-stiff five-strut frame in ExoTex 2 Dacron on a Delta Bow shape, with the CoreTex 2 triple-ripstop canopy, Intelligent Arc for finely controllable power, CIT modes to tune bar pressure and turning to your taste, and Core's six-year parts guarantee. Explosive lift, long hangtime, an easy catch on loops, and forgiving enough to be your everyday 9m. It replaced our instructors' favourite big-air kite, and the XR Pro 2 that followed it costs over a thousand euro more.
Why the price: new XR8s are being cleared across Europe now the XR Pro 2 and XR X have landed — the cheapest boxed 9m we can find is €1,224 in Germany, before shipping. This one is €949, in Ireland, with a person you can ring.
